I walked the Camino almost 3 years ago at the age of 70. I am totally loving your blog because it takes me back to many of the same thoughts and feelings that I had. Truly, one of the highlights of my life and to this day , think about it almost daily.

The following year, I walked 100 km of the Portuguese Camino and the following year , I walked 100 km on the Jesuit Camino. In September, I am walking 100 km on the English Camino starting in Ferrol. Once you walk it, you want to walk it over and over! God bless you!!

From your post today, I was reminded of a poem that I heard when I was still a child…

Breathe deep the gathering gloom

Watch lights fade from every room

Bedsitter people look back and lament

Another day's useless energy spent

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one;

Lonely man cries for love and has none;

New mother picks up and suckles her son;

Senior citizens wish they were young

Cold-hearted orb that rules the night

Removes the colours from our sight

Red is grey is yellow white

But we decide which is right

And which is an illusion

I think we all can admit that we just want God to fix things. We want unwavering confidence that He is okay with everything we’ve done. We want to please Him to the point that He rewards us with an “at-a-boy” or “at-a-girl”. We just want the pain to go away forever and leave us calm and captive in His arms. ❤️
