Alzheimer’s can be a horrendously cruel disease but on the other hand it is a testament to true love. I am honored to have been with & assisted my mother during her journey through this disease.

Jeopardy clue- “Who shares stories from the heart?”

Answer- “Who is Sean Dietrich”

Thank you Sean for helping me start the day with memories of mom.

80 yr old people feel empowered to say whatever they please. Be as obnoxious as they want - especially if they smile while doing it. What's gonna happen? My best friend (she's 70) and I (80) have decided to be in the same nursing home so we can wreak havoc. Dance contests and pool tournaments and cussin' classes. Ought to be a hoot. My mother was put in a nursing home in her 80s. My brother called me one evening. "Your mother (notice the pronoun) is the scandal of the nursing home!" I was at a loss since Mother was a straight-laced Christian lady with rigid principles. "Uh-huh, and why is that?" I reply. "She's flirting with all the men and outraged her roommate by having a man in her bed. In the middle of the day!" I will say my brother took it better than expected, but I was flabbergasted. The woman who had declared that sex was bad had indeed fallen off her pedestal! My response? "Hey, go Mom!"
