Hugs heal. Humming comforts. The kind human voice is soothing and encouraging. Briana and Jack, with a wide age difference, both share in similar needs….as we all do. Sometimes we may be aware…..other times not….knowing this, we should treat each person, babies to seniors, with our very best TLC! We have a hurting world, this beautiful heart moving story shows us how to help heal it.

We can’t touch by posting/commenting over the internet. The best we can do is ALMOST make eye contact.

The internet for the most part is pretty cool… but will never ever emulate actual human touch. Sean is totally in tune with this. His post today very beautifully highlights that truth.

I have a grandchild who was just released from a monthlong NICU stay. Thanks Sean, for focus beyond a keyboard and website to what really matters in this wacky world. ❤️😎

PS - What we can do over the internet is love one another. Touch is not required for that… a hug just puts icing on the cake. ❤️💕💕

This hit a very raw nerve with me. I've been drawn to want to hold babies ever since my grandson took his life. I don't live near a big hospital so I signed up to help in our church nursery. The lady in charge determined I'm too feeble to hold babies!

Sometimes people in charge just don’t understand the need that is right in front of their face… find another church nursery & another if it’s necessary but, don’t give up.

Hugs from me to you 🤗

Don't give up: I don't know where you live, Toni, but perhaps there's another Church Nursery with a more insightful Director. You are one of my favorite groups: Librarians. Love me some Librarians! It's been determined that a young child's intellectual potential is vastly improved between the ages of 1 yr. to 4 years, by hearing the spoken word. Now I will speak as a bossy ol' School Counselor, but is there any public library setting, or PreSchool Setting in which you could read aloud to young children? Just hearing stories read aloud, hearing words, can make such a difference in the child's own verbal capacity! Many young mothers need help in this area! I don't want to discourage your need to help by holding and cuddling babies, because that would fill a very valid need that YOU have, but if you have a bit of extra time: Could you do Story Hour to children whose school experience would be so enhanced by this? Something to think about, but don't give up on the baby holding, please!

Too old to hold a baby. I never heard of such a thing. I agree with Jan, find another church. I am sorry about your grandson. 2 Timothy 4:17a "But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength", and may you feel His comfort and enjoy His peace.

Take along a friend to hold the baby, and sit close enough to touch the tiny bundle of pink or blue🩷🩵

I guarantee you will feel the love, and so will that baby💞

?? Even if you're sitting down in a rocker, Toni?? Try another church...or daycare.

I am so sorry for your loss Toni. I can't imagine that pain. I would find another church until I found one that has compassion...We all need human touch. I'm sending you a hug and a prayer today. I hope you can feel it.🙏

I agree, Toni. Don't let a bureaucratic nursery school get in the way of your hugs. They are important and you deserve every one you get and give.

A gracious good morning and happy hump day to all yall. Sean that was another beautiful tear jerker. I wonder what the vetting process is to be a cuddler. I wouldn't mind a cuddle from a big woman now and then. I Gotta get moving on my chores. Working for the feds this week. Yall have a splendiferous day and...

The waiting list for cuddling the NICU babies at the hospital I retired from is quite long. The good news is…there are not enough babies there to supply the need. The bad news is…there are too many cuddlers. Or is it the other way around?

Of course we’re happy that there’s more cuddlers than babies…so we patiently wait for that precious bundle to be placed in our arms to love on. And it’s never easy to give that bundle of pure joy back to the nurse💞

This reminds me of a very special person that I know. She is a registered nurse but her specialty is pediatric intensive care. I asked her once if it was a hard field to be in. She told me that, a lot of time, when you hold an infant with problems that their pulse will get better, their breathing will get better, just basically everything will stabilize when the infant is held. She also told me that most mothers know this instinctively that is why they want to hold their baby after birth.

Cuddlers. Thanks, Sean. You reminded me of something I've always wanted to do. There's nothing like new life - humans, puppies, kittens, wombats, bears, goats, rhinos, salamanders - not snakes, tho. They all have that special, unsullied aroma like no other. Makes you think they're fresh from God and heaven, and as pure as they will ever be on this earth. New life. The wonder of it. The aching, glorious, beautiful miracle of it.

Then they pee on you, or throw up, and start screaming blue murder, and you have to laugh, cause that's life, too. Welcome to psycho planet, little one! It's all downhill from here!

Your comment made me laugh. During a FaceTime visit with my son and his family last night, my almost 22-month-old grandbabygirl burped productively on my son’s knee and the floor, then he instructed his 4-year-old not to step in it while he went to retrieve cleaning supplies. This was after the 4-year-old put a braided cloth basket on my son’s head. I promptly put a basket on Papa Rick’s head because we will do almost anything to make the little ones laugh. There was a moment of blue murder screaming in the visit, too—I believe it had something to do with choice of pajamas.

My son’s reaction was comical. It was like a calm, “Really?”

Thankfully my granddaughter wasn’t sick, just an after dinner toddler blip.
