Not all Americans are involved in this social media tirade. 300 first responders showed up at record speed when the crash occurred. (From my reading) People all over this great land (not perfect…far from it) are praying faithfully. May this wife who asked for peace know we are indeed petitioning for her and all who are suffering at this very hour.

The sad thing Cindy is that the people who care and are praying don’t get acknowledged.

Expand full comment

You are right! But their faith does carry merit far better than recognization!

Expand full comment

Yes it does!

Not important right now, Priscilla. People who are truly praying should not need thanks.

I think you might have missed Priscilla’s intent, Susie. You are right that the kind people who are praying for everyone who lost loved ones in this disaster are certainly not looking for thanks or acknowledgment. I think Priscilla meant that it would help the grieving families to know that there are people who are not pointing fingers and ascribing blame. They are simply lifting them up in prayer and asking for comfort for them.

No, but they need more praying for all who have died and those their lives touched.

Thank you Sean. As a retired Army air traffic controller...I knew better than to watch, read or listen to any news/social media after this broke. Your words yesterday and today are all I've seen regarding the accident. They are warm and comforting, just like your neck hugs. Again, thank you. RT.

Respectfully,

Kimberly Drake

Thank you for your service, Kimberly,! The biggest blowhard of them all misspoke yesterday before all the facts were in. As he usually does. Ignore him.

Oh my goodness, Sean, you've captured the sentiment of the the Army Aviator, whether s/he is behind the sticks, or crewing. The critics, whether it's my president or any other "ground-pounder" (non-pilot folk) have absolutely no idea what it is like flying into a busy airport, at night, possibly under night vision goggles. If they were under NVG's, the bright lights would all but shut down the pilot's visibility. Typically, the crew would flip up the goggles and go unaided. Additionally, and I think the ATC tapes will prove this, the pilots would be asked once if they have an aircraft in sight and if no response within a few seconds, ATC would issue orders to turn right or turn left immediately. If no response then they would transmit over "guard" which the pilots would receive regardless of what frequency their UHF or VHF was set on. Again, get politics out of the way, and let the investigators find the faults (there will be many) and set policy to keep this from happening again, regardless of whose fault it is. Blessings to you Sean; keep it up!!!

Great information and thanks for sharing. Wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on getting politics out of the way. In my opinion, the president wandered off the script once again yesterday, and needlessly and thoughtlessly, politicized a tragedy with victims still in the Potomac. I often observe, and lament, the loss of civility we see in our country.

Every time 45 shows the country and the world how truly depraved and deficient he is, we all receive a moral injury. We know how wrong he is, and his thoughtless, cruel words hurt us all.

And yet everybody not paying attention put him back in. THEY are complicit. When will they ever learn, When. Will. They. Ever. Learn.

Dadgummit, Susie S! This tragedy does not deserve your political vitriol. You are making it worse. Sean's words were excellent and well written and you have to get back to politics. Just shut the **** UP! Be sorry for the people who died and cut it with your divisive speech!

I'll call it like I see it, MAM. And Trump politicized the accident by blaming the last admin and DEI for the tragedy, with no facts in at the time and no proof. It's his modus operandi. Aren't you familiar with his playbook YET, MAM?!?!?

Expand full comment

Oh, he's the master of the Art of the Deal. I understand his playbook very well, and I love what he's doing for the most part. He's very, very, very refreshing after the past "administration," which did nothing, absolutely NOTHING beneficial for the country. And I'm calling it like I see it! Diverse opinions, but I would prefer if you never and I never had to talk politics on Sean's page. It's not fair to him! Because Sean is a caring, compassionate man who writes great entertaining stories every day, which most of us enjoy, and we appreciate that he never talks politics. A very refreshing occurrence these days.No more politics please, from you or me!

And you just did exactly what Sean was lamenting. You politicized it. I didn’t vote in the election for the first time in my life. But this was not the time or place to bring his comments up.

Yes she did. And thank you, Louise.

Hi Louise. I hope you were responding to someone who replied to my comment, as I certainly didn’t think I was “doing exactly what Sean was lamenting”. I intended to agree with Sean by expressing my feelings about a “ general” loss of civility and decorum in our culture.

Perhaps you should reread your comment, AlanP.

No offense, but I am good with my comment, and 26 people have liked and apparently have not misinterpreted what I was attempting to communicate.

Louise, by not voting you don't have a voice.

Sorry, but she did not politicize. Our fearless, inept leaders did in Washington, while 67 dead people floated in the freezing Potomac. Jenn was only commenting on the truth. Folks just don't want to acknowledge it. I appreciate Sean's commentary as every life is precious, but being led by an admr that uses this terrible tragedy to pontificate negativity is morally wrong, and makes our country looks like a bunch of idiots, which we are not. Comment as you wish. I will still make my statements, and hold to them.

And I will, also, Rosemarie. 👍. Speak truth to power or they'll run right over ya.

Rosemarie, thank you. For staying YOUR disgust, also, about how the orange leader TOTALLY POLITIZED

With you one this one, AlanP. Are we really surprised about the orange one's actions and words!? Anyone who is obviously hasn't been paying attention.

Oh, he thought about it, quite purposefully I'd say. Totally repugnant, inappropriate, and morally reprehensible.

Prayers for all the family and friends of the 67 people who died in this tragedy.

The only reason for finding out what went wrong is to prevent it from happening again. Equipment failure, or human error should be enough for the masses. Need to know personnel should be told so that they can fix the problem, not fix the blame.

Thank you. These are the very reasons why I haven’t watched television since the late 90’s and am not on X, Facebook or any other social media.

Let us all keep the prayers coming for all concerned and don’t forget the first responders. This is horrific for them too.

Thank you for this, Sean. Here’s hoping there are millions more of us who fully agree with your sentiments than those who decided they had to find a way to add massive INhumanity to an already horrific, gut-wrenching event. May God’s love shelter the families and friends of those who tragically died.

The frenzy you describe was indeed created and pursued by a small but loud minority. It begs the question, “what has happened to our fellow citizens’ sense of compassion and dignity?” I join those prayers of consolation.

So grateful for this. We are all flawed. But we are loved by a God who watches us do what we do, and while He may slap His forehead from time to time, he still says, "I love that knucklehead." May we recognize our own knuckleheadedness and lift up prayers instead of opinions the majority of the time.

I always appreciate your heartfelt and compassionate comments. I agree with everything you have written but for the very last sentence. I fear some people know what they are doing and saying and thus causing great harm.

I have complimented Sean in the past on his closing comments. He often, and brilliantly, ties the ending to the beginning.

Today he quotes from the Bible…”Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23: 34 - 38)

You said it perfectly, Sean.
