She sang before a small room in the back of an average American library. A 12-year-old blind girl. She’s cuter than a duck in a hat. She stood before a microphone. She sang. Her eyes were closed because her eyelids don’t open. Her irises are dead, but her eyes used to be hazel.
You, Sean, are special in all sorts of ways, but your attention to Becca and your taking her various places to let her sing for appreciate audiences sets you apart from most of us. I speak for myself. I don't know that I could do what you do to bring her to audiences and take her places she would not otherwise have the chance to visit. You may be her godfather, but you are her daddy in your love for her. You and Jamie are truly led by God to take care of Becca and help her grow up to love people rather than rebuff them, as she might otherwise have done without your care. You are a team! And I probably would have been bawling, too, when she stood there and sang "Smile."

Technically Becca is blind. "She is not blind, she just can't see as we do". Becca sees in the most important way......with her heart. Blessings to all of the Dietrich crew. You all are that bright light that continues to push away the darkness in our world.

When you say Goddaughter you aren’t kidding. God had this in HIs plans all along. That you and Jamie and she would become a family. All of life, even the hard parts we ask Why God? Over…they lead us down the path we’re we are meant to be. We can’t see it at the time. We don’t understand when we’re suffering and going through it. But just as the caterpillar must go through the things it does to become the butterfly so too does our life have to go through things and changes to become something beautiful.
