You and I Sean, are genetically hardwired to believe in God. Hardwired to find Him. Each one of us. This means that we can’t miss God. Because we’re not chasing Him. He’s chasing us”!!
Ahhhh, the Hound of Heaven, on our trail♥️ Love these thoughts & reflections that you continue to share with us all! ✨AMEN✨
How I love the Hound of Heaven, Holy Spirit! He is indefatigable and relentless and with Papa God and His Son Jesus Christ, at the blessed Trinity of Father, Son and Spirit. I am so grateful to be a part of the Household of God!! I have been chased by God and there is no more wonderful thing that that! Wendy
A very poignant and spot on question Ryan. It is my own spiritual beleif that those individuals have not yet developed a 'personal ' relationship with the Divine. This does NOT mean that at somepoint in their journey they may not. But the relationship of which I speak MUST be a PERSONAL one. Just like you have with a family member or your spouse. Relationships invole the participation by BOTH parties. AS some have already said....'The Hound of Heaven" some refer to it as karma or some other mystic term....the point is they all mean...it MUST be personal to each one of us....otherwise it has NO meaning and no significance to the individual. It is NOT a "one size fits all" as some may suggest.
“Going up to the Spirit in the Sky, that’s where I’m gonna go when I die, When I die and they lay me to rest, gonna go to the place that’s the best” (circa 1960s) 😇🎶
You are not the same person you were before the Camino. Your soul is happy about that. And your heart, only a bud when you picked out your walking shoes and decided which undergarments could be left in The Ham, had 40 days to blossom. (40 days is a pretty biblical span of time, by the by.) And you allowed all of us to share that. Which means WE are not the same people we were - or we shouldn't be. Thanks for that.
I completely understand. I have walked the Camino 2x. The whole experience lives with you every single day. You will continue to “unpack” and live into your Camino experience the rest of your life.
Such a blessing. And you are such a blessing to others sharing it here.
In my opinion, I believe that any stressful endeavor will bring you closer to your soul. People who walk the Appalachian Trail find themselves closer to nature which puts them understanding their soul. I believe that, sometimes, we get in a day-to-day rut and forget how our soul needs nurturing, much like our bodies. When something is done that allows your soul talk to you, your life seems to get balance.
""I am not the same guy I was when I started the Camino.""
Obviously. You are examining your existence more and with all those people reaching out to you with stories about their difficult lives. I am amazed at how you handle it. I pray all the time. I want there to be a higher power that can protect children and the sick and those with bombs dropping on them. But sometimes I wonder why it never ceases. Unless there is an eternal place for souls to continue to love in a place with peace. I will pray about it. We love you, Sean. Keep searching, thinking and writing.......
God's promises in the Bible encompass various aspects of life, including Salvation, Protection, Provision, Guidance, Peace, Eternal Life, and the Gift of the Holy Spirit. These promises are rooted in God's unchanging character and faithfulness, offering Assurance and Hope to believers.
And above all else…God promises that He will never leave or forsake those who follow Him ✝️
I had not thought about why there were possessions in the earliest grave sites. It is well documented by the Egyptians that they thought whatever a person had here was profoundly necessary for the afterlife. They based theirs on a different kind of almighty one but the concept is the same. That idea had to come from somewhere. Maybe someone in their past had found one of the earliest humanoid burials and made the connection.
I believe in God, I believe in a hereafter. I am so looking forward to escaping the world we find ourselves in today and living that eternal peace.
We are Spiritual Beings having a Human Experience not Human Beings having a Spiritual Experience. [A quote attributed to several and in fact finds its ultimate source in the scripture.] Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies. But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die. 1 Corinthians 15
I just KNEW you’d cross paths with a priest at some point on the Camino, Sean! Meeting Father Mark is what I call a “God Wink”…coincidence? maybe. Divine Intervention? Yes!!
If he TALKED like a priest, he WAS one. And when he smiled and said “And also with you, my son”…well, you can take that to the bank ✝️
Another of your Camino revelations! Now I’ll spend the whole weekend, probably longer, trying to process that. Damn! Eighty years going to my Episcopal church with my grandfather’s name on a plaque on the wall, and I never thought of that. I mean, I’ve never been the brightest light on the Christmas tree, but which Sunday school class or sermon did I sleep through or miss that covered that little piece of information!?! At my age, it gets harder for the synapses to connect, not that I was ever known for great synaptic activity! Oh well, there goes the weekend!
Joseph! My husband is 80 and grew up Catholic. He rejected the rigidity of religion. In his 50s he had a relationship with the Lord. A personal development over time revealed to him that his mother’s religion was not what he needed. But a daily “walk “ with a risen Savior has brought him peace and joy.
Having walked three caminos, I understand how the walk stays with you. The Camino for me is like a walking Zen retreat. When I am home, my desire to go back is always an undercurrent within me. Hanging out with fellow Camino walkers, and listening to your posts , brings me joy. Buen Camino

I ask a question just wondering and not expecting any sort of answer: are atheists and agnostics not hard wired that way? If not why not?
Good question. Something to think about…perhaps a walk on the Camino would provide answers to that question.
Good thought!

That was well said, Ernie. If you don't mind, I would like to accept them as my own
Feel free!
A perfectly beautiful comment, Ernie. Thank you for that!
40 - one of God's favorite numbers. Those who think God has no sense of humor needs to do a study on Biblical numerology.
Hi Ernie! I think he (and we) are the same person as before the Camino, only tweaked to a better self, in my humble opinion. 🙏🏼
Best sentence ever...Being human is just a fun thing spirits do...
I loved that.
I'll be hanging with this sentence for a long time, too.
I love this line, too!
Same thought! I wrote it down !
Jeremiah knew.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you…”

Paul,
Say it again,
AND again, again, again ....

Stephen,
Thanks
I wonder too.
Lots.

Jimmy--Yes! Such a wonderful promise for true believers in Christ. So looking forward to this transformation.
You experienced serenity 🙏
