That was my much needed slap upside the head. Thank you for sharing this reminder that blessings are everywhere. You just have to have eyes to see them, meaning looking beyond your own nose.

I am reminded just how great our God is this morning. My very restless sleep last night & my painful aching old shoulder are both truly a blessing if I choose to look at them correctly. I used my waking hours last night talking with my Savior & I should be thankful to have a shoulder that aches rather than no shoulder at all.

To my Father this morning I say-

Thank you for the blessings, kindness, & love You show me every single moment of my life.

Please keep my mind centered on the tasks You have set before me.

Use me to be an extension of Your love to those in need & without hope.

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,

There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not

As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

So glad you shared this. “All I have needed Thy hand hath provided…” My late mother sometimes said God promised to take care of our needs, not our wants. She struggled many years to get by after being widowed young. Sean’s story today brought tears to my eyes, the reaction of the young man when asked for a prayer request.

My mom & dad use to tell us to “shake your head, your eyes are stuck”. We need to be reminded often where our focus needs to be.

That’s a good thought!

I am stealing that phrase.

Jan! You really brought it home to me. You ARE lucky to have an aching shoulder...as am I, to have an annihilated right rotator cuff. During my residency rotation in the chronic pain clinic at Duke (where the damaged go as a last hope) I cared for an Israeli combat casualty with not much left of a shoulder and arm, and an American vet, who drove himself from Wisconsin to Durham; again, one-handed (and one-shouldered) but with Phantom Pain from the missing limb. It is also noteworthy that Chaplains, along with docs, nurses, and other caregivers, were integral to patients' regaining optimal function.

Many times when I wake in the middle of the night that hymn is running through my mind.

One of my favorites!!

That hymn was written by the grandfather of a friend, William Runyon. His granddaughter certainly exuded faithfulness. I learned many good things from her.

You are so intuitive this day just as I am. We all need to meet and spend more time with our Savior. It would be a much better world.

Zac Poonen notes that ‘in each of the 7 glimpses of heaven given in the book of Revelation, we see the inhabitants of heaven continuously praising God with a loud voice - sometimes as loud as thunders and as the noise of roaring rivers. This is the atmosphere of heaven - one of continual praise, without any complaints or demands. And this is the atmosphere that the Holy Spirit desires to bring into our hearts, our homes and our churches as well. It is thus that Satan will be driven away from all these places.’

May this lesson of peace on earth and in our hearts prevail….with much thanksgiving. Faith says we serve a sovereign God who only seeks for our good. This young man has found ‘the treasure in the field’.

Prayer seems to have become a wishlist for many of us. Thank you for sharing this story, and reminding us prayer is about expression of gratitude and adoration to a Holy God, whom provides our every need! I am thankful for these nuggets you Sean feed to us through your stories, a gentle reminder to stop being so selfish!

Gratitude is a powerful thing. I sleep better when I drift off counting all the things I’m grateful for in my life. On the other hand, when I’m stewing about a perceived injustice…I toss and turn all night. Now that says it all, right? ‘Tis the season…and I’m so very grateful and thankful. Lovely, lovely, story!!!

Carla, thank you for that tip! I frequently wake in the middle of the night and cannot go back to sleep because I am a worry-wart!! I try to turn such worries over to God because his yoke is easier, but sometimes it’s to difficult. I shall now count my many, many blessings that I have received from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you so very much ❤️

I always considered it kind of tacky to beg God for stuff. It seems the only time most people believe their prayers are answered is when the situation is dire, life-threatening, then "someone" shows up to rescue us. We have to put in the work, too. My daily prayer, "Thank you for my perfect health," isn't worth much if I don't do my part.

Thanks, Sean. You're better than a month of Sunday church-going!

He wants us to come to Him for everything, not just at Christmas.

You have not because you ask not. Prayer is mostly a reminder to us we depend on God. We sure aren't telling Him anything He doesn't know already.

One of the 'real' meanings of Christmas - thankfulness for what we have.

IN ALL THINGS, SITUATIONS, CIRCUMSTANCES, GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD! God is soooooo good, ALL the time. He is working through all things in our lives. His Will, plan, and timing is perfect! Pray unceasingly for His Will to be done. His Will is not necessarily what we are asking for.....He will work it out for our good.....it takes trust and FAITH!
