It’s Christians like this who give Christianity a bad name. Sean, you have brought more help, peace and joy to a lot more people than many Christians I know. Keep doing what you’re doing. Your soul is fine!

Well said, Sean. The email writer needs to worry about his own soul. It is people like this person that turn people away from Christianity and that is indeed a sin. I will pray for him. 🙏❤️

I worry sometimes that I’m too confident about what God wants of me. I think that He just wants me to love. While He was walking around on the earth, He told us that the least would be first… referring to who gets to go to Heaven. I think that means that higher and mighty behavior may be last or not at all. I have no earthly idea other than God says to love one another like He showed us.

I do hope that gentleman has the strength to pull that plank out of his eye!

So having tolerance for all and being a good person sends you to hell? That's a news to me! Your response to this "Christian" was awesome!!

I love your response to this negative so called Christian, Sean. I’m afraid that social media has become the platform for these kind of people. Anyone who would call out and judge someone they don’t even know has more problems they need to deal with themselves. You are a child of God as we all are. You do good everywhere you go. Any amount of faith you have is enough!

Gee. Given a choice between hanging out with you or the email writer, I’d pick you every time. Except for the cussing and drinking, you sound an awful lot like Jesus. The email writer sounds more like a Pharisee. Keep preaching. Maybe you’ll rub off on him.

Jesus liked good wine, the best, and made sure there was enough for a whole week’s worth of partying for a wedding just so they wouldn’t be embarrassed by running out of it way too early. And he hung out with all kinds of folks who weren’t acceptable. He liked good parties. Loved sitting back at somebody’s dinner table and talking about stuff. Faith for him wasn’t a formula of some particular words, it shows up in what you do. It’s for the benefit of others, not for assuring your own spot in God’s favor. That’s up to God anyway, and not really much we can do about it. If I’m wrong and it really is like this friend says it is, there’s likely to be much better company in hell.

Here’s to taking care of somebody who is in a bad way, having a good conversation with a friend, and a Shiner Bock or a little Cabernet on the back porch. Heck, I might even have a PBR if worse comes to worse.

The two greatest commandments written in The Word are to “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart” and “love thy neighbour as thyself.” There are eight others as well. Scripture also speaks to the person who would judge another, “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”

A Christians witness and testimony is in their actions toward others, to treat others as Christ would treat them. This person would do well to spend time in prayer and in The Word instead of judging and calling out others.

It is true that Christians, even the “real” ones, can sometimes be judgmental of others. I know this is true about myself, and I hate it. It’s somewhat like pride, which I think is another sin we Christians have to guard against. Our enemy is always seeking a chink in our spiritual armor, like a roaring lion, seeking those he can devour.

Most of us are doing the best we can. My personal belief is that you seem like a darned (forgive my Freach) good human being. If we constantly beat ourselves over the head for not being perfect, does that guarantee us a ticket to Heaven? I don't believe so. What I do believe is, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." And I am - for sure - a Christian. I try, but I sometimes fall short. That gives me the chance to try again, and perhaps do better next time. That, among other things, is what tomorrow is all about for me. Oh, and one question for your letter writer: who or what gives one human being the right to speak for all Christians - or all Muslims, Jews, or non-believers? That must be a heavy responsibility, indeed, my friend.
