Hearing that you're fiddling in the dead of night to a cat and other insomniacs creates a vivid picture. I am already imagining you playing (without the mute) along the trail, during a rest. I can see you standing outlined against the night sky with your violin singing across the low-hanging dishrag clouds and stars overhead. Such a moment would be an aching beauty that would bring me to tears. Maybe I'll do a bit of dream travel so I can listen.

Your words here are as evocative as those which inspired them

Your picture put a smile on my face and a tear in my eye at how beautiful and happy you both are. Never stop loving each other.

Cow tongue - my mom was a Brit who came to the U.S. in WW II. She made cow tongue with a raisin sauce occasionally for dinner and I can tell you it was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten besides kidneys and liver. Avoid tongue and keep your own tongue happy.

Keep up the crying Sean, it shows you are human and how much you care, it shows how much you love - life occasionally is full of tears.

I clearly remember visiting a friend of my mom's for several days, We went to the grocery store and I saw a tongue in the butcher case, and as an 8-year-old is won't to say: Eww, what's that? Mom's friend said that's tongue. ewwww. That night at dinner mom's friend served slices of some kind of beef, she said. I took a small bite, and said, Oh, this taste pretty good. At which point, she and mom both laughed and told me it was tongue.

I have no idea. I was 8 years old and not at all into cooking.

I finally realize one reason I love your writing so much. I feel like you are talking to me. And when your little story ends I want you to KEEP talking.....I think you are getting better at describing the scenes you encounter. Or maybe it is the new locale. Keep it up Sean. And safe travels......

Fun fact. Calico cats are always female! It’s a genetic factor.

I finished Kinfolk. It was a page turner, Sean. I could hardly read at times because of tears from laughing. So glad you sent us another note from your journey. Praying you & Jamie have a real spiritual journey & come home safely again.

Greetings from my recliner. I hope you find the calm outside there, away from the stormy west. Europe is civilizationally much older, so by default must be much more at rest with itself. Most of us old people are typically more at rest. Of course there’s exceptions… https://yonderponderer.substack.com/p/sunrise

Thanks for writing us with your Pilgrim’s Progress! ❤️

Ah….the cheeses! There are somewhere between 500 and 1200 kinds of French cheese! It’s overwhelming! I loved the cheese shops in France and Spain.

Had I known, I would’ve shipped you some peanut butter. There is plenty in my region of France. And, add a d to Pie - Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Can’t wait to follow your progress.
