Good thought - "There are two worlds. The world I see. And the world I don’t." We should always remember this...

My last flight (August 31), I’m certain a baby girl about 18 months and I annoyed others, but we had a good time. She was sitting in front of me and would turn on the overhead lamp. I’d turn on mine. She’d turn hers off. I’d turn mine off. She giggled every.single.time I mimicked her action. I put a napkin over my face, then my glasses over it. She tried to put a napkin over her face. I put the emergency instructions pamphlet on my husband’s head. She held out hand for it, I gave it to her, and she put it on her daddy’s head. The parents thanked me for occupying her, but it was really she who occupied me. I’d spent four days and nights in quarantine with Covid on this trip, missing valuable time with my grandchildren, including a little girl about the age of my little friend on this Delta flight from Denver to Atlanta. I didn’t have time on this flight home to feel sorry for myself, someone needed my attention.

Sweet of you, Leigh.

You're a great person Leigh. Sounds like da kid needed a Whoopagram to me. Some parental control at least!

Your buddy,

Pube

She couldn't have been over a year-and-a-half. Two-and-a-half hours is a long time for such a little one to be confined.

Expand full comment

I hear you, Pu. Some parents don't care enough for controls. Also, if Leigh hadn't kept engaging the child, she may have lost interest and turned around on her own.

Susie, I enjoyed that flight and interacting with the baby. While you were sitting at home criticizing people and tagging numerous comments on this forum with your obnoxious political graffiti, I was enjoying the company of one of God’s precious little ones.

Expand full comment

My last comment wasn't criticizing you, Leigh. I had already commented before that, that it was sweet of you to do that. I was simply stating a fact that perhaps if you hadn't engaged, she simply might have lost interest. That was not meant as a criticism, but more like a description of a different outcome. I'm glad you enjoyed your time.

Hi Sean, I’m so happy you feel that way! So do I.

We fight with the Devil in the storm until someone like you says “let’s give it a shot”.

Love,

Yes, Ed, I believe you might be right. Perhaps, you need to become more indefatigable. Most wars ARE fought over religion. Kinda stupid, huh. Jeez, live and let live, right?!

Hi Susie S, You’re a good web friend to say that. Thank you for caring! You’re so right about indefatigable (had to look that up) 😎 I’ve been working on that. https://eds-art.net/love/

It's a GREAT word, Ed. I can help you with that. ☺️. Pay close attention. 😂😂.

Greetings from a foreign country where I’ve been wearing the same clothes for four days because my luggage was “delayed” and is going to be delivered to my hotel. I’m not quite sure which of those two worlds I’m living in this morning. I just know that I’m not in control of this situation and send you all peace and best wishes.

I hope you get your luggage soon. Two months ago I flew to Uganda and checked three bags (storage containers). When I got to my final destination, only 2 followed me. After three weeks, I flew back home and my husband met me at luggage with the third tote. It never left my airport. It sat there in unclaimed baggage with no tag. The check-in person didn't put the tag on it. I won't say which airline I was flying, but it rhymes with United.

Let me guess. Was it United? LOL. Funny/not so funny for you!

I remember a trip, when my luggage did not arrive in Paris. We had tickets to the opera that night. I had to rush to buy a pair of shoes, because all I had on were Hush Puppies. I walked into a store, and the woman said to me in French: "Vous êtes Americaine." I replied, "Oui, madame." She told me also in French that it was because my ankles were slim. By the way, my luggage caught us with us several days later in London. Thankfully, most of my clothes were washable in the sink overnight!

The message is as fresh this morning, as the first time it was told, in different language, in lands far away, under heavens we would not recognized. And the message must be retold, once, a thousand times more, so not the choir --- rather those who truly need it -- may hear, and better, believe, and better yet, act, for everyone's sake.

Keep up the good work - and you know better than many -- the reward for good work, is more work.

Incredibly encouraging, over the top! If ever there was a written work for “hold on…better times are coming”…..this is the cure all “give it a shot”!!! As I see it….God put you in this miserable holding tank to write this story from gloom to glory…..a mini-masterpiece!

We’re suffering a terrible drought here in the northernmost part of Virginia so I’m a little envious of the rain. Our Shenandoah river is 20 inches below the norm. To top things off this past week we’ve seen the most oppressive heat of the summer. My grass looks like shredded wheat, my flowers look sickly. Leaves are drooping on the shrubs and trees and falling off. Water restrictions have been mandated.

And no open burning for fear of fire. So we’re also deeply concerned about the National forests of the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains that surround us.

We usually associate weather related depression with an unrelenting rainy season. I can tell you a summer without rain is significantly more depressing. A random storm finally delivered just under a half inch of rain yesterday in one corner of our county. But we desperately need so much more. And more widespread. Last winter we never received enough snow to even shovel. I’m not a fan of snow, God’s taught me it’s a blessing.

But while I fret over my flowers and lawn, the poor farmers and agriculturalists here are seeing their livelihoods dry up, literally. And prices to sustain them and us (eventually) will soar even further.

So what is God up to in his unseen world, leaving us parched? This drought can’t be for nothing. In our complaining and worrying we can only see what’s in front of us, barrenness. We forget. We can’t control the weather but we have direct access to the One who does. Indirectly we ‘can’ change the weather, with faith filled prayer.

Why is it we wait for desperation to set in before we seek God? It should be our first response, not a last resort. And so there’s our answer, because we numbskulls can’t learn the lesson. We are no better than the Israelites of the OT.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” ~ Hebrews 4:16

As God showed Sean sunshine during a storm, may we see rain delivered from God’s own hands to a parched Shenandoah Valley. More than that, may we see our need to draw near to the Father. First! And always!

Amen

You're right, Dolores, we are numbskulls for denying cli ch. It's only going to get worse each yr now, so get ready, y'all, for a hell on earth. We had warnings 30-40 yrs ago, ignored it and now it's too late to turn it around. Oh, well. 💔

Sean, reading that article this morning was exactly what I needed; a kick in my backside to leave my pity party behind and try to start the day out in a positive frame of mind, yes! I mean , what are the odds that I'll be without transportation again tomorrow because both cars in the drive have dead batteries and no jumper cables. That'd be ridiculous!? I know there's a sign in that mess somewhere . Great read yet again , Sean.
