Here’s the season of gratitude. Autumn leaves, a set of parents who love a little girl, a crazy aunt and uncle, being able to play in the backyard, and mac-n-cheese. Maybe it doesn’t sound like much. But there you are, grateful for sharing love that comes out as kindness, friendship that can’t be measured, and grace that brought an unexpected little cluster of people together. Pretty good standards, I’d say.

Thank you for sharing Becca with us! I love reading about her. You and your wife are such a gift to that little girl -- and I’d venture to say she is a blessing to you as well.

Leaf angels -- sounds delightful.

We are all so thankful for you Sean. You touch our hearts with words that pull out the emotions from the depths of our souls. My day isn’t complete till I have read your post. I’m 69 years old, but when I grow up I want to be just like you. I want to write stories that make people cry, laugh and thank God for the many blessings in life. Bless your pea picking little heart Sean. You and your writing blesses my heart each and every day.

Sean…what a treasure you are to me. I wake up every morning looking forward to reading your blog. Why? Because you get me. You seem to know how to express what I’m feeling. Thanks for that. I’m so thankful and giddy that you’re in my daily reading schedule so I can start my day with more hope and love towards myself and others I’m going to meet. Have a wonderful day with whomever you spend it with.

As always Becca has it right. It’s natural to be grateful for the physical gifts of this world, a home, food etc. As we age, or like Becca, Thanksgiving means contemplating the treasures that money can’t buy. Like God’s goodness, the people He’s put in our lives, the wonders of this earth, very often the things we take for granted. Sometimes we can look back on the obstacles with gratitude for the invaluable lessons.

I had my Thanksgiving dinner Sunday. After cooking for three days, the two youngest grandsons managed to eat the yeast rolls. So Becca did slightly better.

PBS ran Andre Bocelli’s Sacred Arias years ago during the Christmas season. I was hooked and still play those beautiful cd’s. Something tells me Becca would enjoy his music too.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

You make a wonderful "crazy uncle" which is maybe even better because you can love and spoil kids who wander in to your life. You get all the best parts. Of course, Becca is an exceptional 11-yr old, so I would say, she's raising you! When it comes to raising kids, you are reminded of your own childhood, the parts that worked and didn't work, and most parents strive to do it better than was done to them. Tell them they are loved and exceptional and beautiful and special, and they will grow up believing in themselves. Sounds like you got that down, so let's don't hear any more about "bad parenting." Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for right now.

You both are very blessed! It was through divine appointment that you two met.....God knew what he was, is and will do with this relationship! He has a purpose for bringing you two together. There is a piece of both hearts that is for and filled only with each other! Enjoy and savor every moment with Becca, she will share something with you every time you're together that you will marvel over all your life! Children do that.....if we only listen....with our ears, eyes, and hearts!

Jamie must be grateful having someone, like Becca, to help take care of you and teach you things. Her wisdom sounds boundless along with her quick wit. I know I have said this a hundred times but it has always stuck with me. Becca is not blind, she just can't see.
