Life can be hard, tragic even. Even so, your Dad sprinkled some seeds. They lay dormant and uncared for as some years go by. Then some folks came along and convinced you your crop could be saved. You took the advice of the weed pullers, soil turners and the ones who added the fertilizer: they even helped with the watering. And low, with encouragement and discipline your garden is bearing fruit.
Not only that. Prayers of the past are coming to fruition.
An interesting concept about prayer working backwards, in the past. I like to think prayer of the past laying fallow, just waiting on Gods perfect timing. Because sometimes prayer seems dormant, unproductive. But the soil must be prepared. We must endure tests along the way and wait for the right people to enter our story.
I have no doubt you must have been prayed for mightily as a young child. Your grandparents, mother, father and sister, church family and eventually your wife. Your music drops on your Dad’s birthday. Now there’s a God wink!
Your testimony and prayer serve a purpose for children and adults today that have endured the unimaginable. ‘Hang on because I’m praying for you. God is always up to something, don’t lose faith.’
With God and good people the seemingly impossible can happen. Amen
Thanks! I’ve tried journaling and end up coming up with zilch to write 😆. Sean gives me a topic of the day but much of what I write comes from the Holy Spirit. I can’t take the credit. This is kinda my journal substitute.
Sean, you are a SUCCESS. You have always been. It is only in your eyes that you have failed. To make it to the Opry is a success, not many do. You are a wonderful "sketcher". You play two musical instruments, not many do. You have many followers that look forward to your writings daily. Get over that failure thing Sean. You never were.
An album! Dang! AND on stage! Does life get any sweeter? So stop pinching yourself - you're gonna be black and blue by the time you get to that stage! -- and believe: as they say in baseball, you've made it to "the show"!!! All before you're 50. And all your fans - what a weak word for what we are! -- are that proud.
Sean, I'm so very happy for you! Dreams do come true. They're just on the Plan beyond our personal sense of timing. Your ship just came in. I'll try to find the station to listen to it! You done good, kid!
While we’re there, there’s this one (for Seaner), too: “Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is.”
Sean my dear friend you are not a failure you have overcome many hard obstacles in your life but a failure you are not you have and will continue to achieve so many goals and with those goals you got your beautiful blessings my friend you have done exceptionally well and congratulations on your new album and more albums to come dear friend many blessings sent to you and your family 🙏
I have been camping for the last week and was barely able to get a signal, so reading your daily post was a challenge. I am glad I got home for this post.
Life can be tragic, if you let it, life can be hard, if you let it, life can be a lot of good and bad things if you let it. You can make something good happen if you work with what you have. In your case Jamie saw you for what you were not what you thought you were. Ree Drummond showed you that you could write a blog and share your thoughts with the world.
We your readers showed you that a red headed, bearded "gittar" player with a blind dog can do whatever he sets his mind to. Your album will be a success because you have worked hard, and your life and sound are part of your music. Even though I was in central Georgia along the Flint River I found a spot on a rock that the signal was good enough to read your post every morning. Lik your song says, "You got a friend in me".
Sean, a million congratulatory wishes and blessings. The blue heron reminds us that sometimes we need to stand still in our lives and reflect on everything around us before moving forward again...say like to The Grammy Awards.
To make good steel you take a chunk of iron, drop it into fire until it’s glowing red. You then beat it until you get the shape you want. You then drop it into liquid to harden it into the finished product. Life is also like making good steel and God is swinging that hammer.
You, the friend I have not met, have made it! So happy for you. Enjoy this!
And to steal a line from Satchel Page…”Don’t look back. Whatever’s chasing you might be catching up!”
Another southern writer told me she did a reading in an exclusive book club, only college graduates were allowed to be members. Here she was a Pulitzer nominee, but not eligible to be a member of this snooty club, and they were indeed snooty, my friend said she wouldn’t do that again. She also eventually graduated, even became a writer in residence. Talent, perseverance, and discipline often take people farther than a degree.
My sons both have degrees, but while they were working on them, I kept it at the forefront of their minds to never define themselves by it, that it is simply a door opener. I’m more proud of the certifications they’ve earned afterward, and one, a financial planner, tells me he wished he could have bypassed university and gone straight to studying for certifications, they are his money makers.

Dolores, this is a beautiful sentiment.
I loved every word of this comment…so so so true! What a perfect analogy and totally Biblical!

No words better than ones from the Holy Spirit❤️
Definitely a God wink!
Delores, your words are beautiful. And so appropriate for Sean.
Amen to that!
I love the God's wink. He knew it would happen and he made sure it did.

Pu
Add accordion to that list. There are probably more string instruments that he plays.
Absolutely true!

I think we’re more than fans, I think we are more like family! I’m feeling the love this morning!
I definitely feel like family. He calls me his "surrogate Mama".
Sean, I'm so very happy for you! Dreams do come true. They're just on the Plan beyond our personal sense of timing. Your ship just came in. I'll try to find the station to listen to it! You done good, kid!
Good morning Sean and happy ...

Loved this Paul!
Congrats! Well deserved! I feel blessed to be a part of your circle albeit virtually via your columns

Well deserved and gives me hope that dreams do come true. I am so proud for you, and I also believe that music rises.
Peace and Love to All from Birmingham 🙏💜🇺🇸
You deserve to be on that stage as much as anyone else who has ever been on it! Claim it. Enjoy it. Proud of you!
Appreciate and enjoy the moment. No matter the time it took to get there, dreams do come true. Congratulations! Thank God for spellcheck.
All the best to you as your music album 'drops', Sean. This is such happy news!
Congratulations on your Opry performance - you'll do great! Pulling for you!
