You and your sweet wife are wonderful parents and you have the heart and soul of therapists as you help Marigold live her best possible life and complete her routines with ease. God Bless you and God has certainly finally blessed Marigold.
Tears gathering in my eyes right now. Our dog Bojangles went blind from cataracts and did well also. He knew where everything in the house was and how to tell us to take him out. He knew how to navigate the steps in and out. Then came the day he couldn't. Dementia set in. Bo would walk in a corner of the room and then not be able to find his way out. After we saw the frustration and confusion our boy was feeling, we called the children to come over and tell him goodbye. My daughter bought Bo with Kool Aid sales in the 7th grade, and he was a part of our lives for 12 years. Good years. Nothing prepared me for the sight of my grown son holding Bo as he told him goodbye. I've lost many dogs in my life, they were all special and part of our family, but Bo was a gift. There's something about a blind dog. You are right.
I so feel this. Winston was born to me and lived for 12 years until I knew it was time to let go. Hardest thing I ever did. Broke my heart to send him on, but a heaven without my furbabies there to greet me will not be heaven at all.
I happen to agree with your grandfather. Anyone who is cruel to an animal-any animal-has something missing in their psyche. I love the way you love your fur babies. Mostly I love the way you love your wife and write about her with such beauty. Thank you for reminding us all that love is out there. And that some people (and hurt dogs) are fortunate enough to find it. Much love.
Sean, you and Jamie are very special people who truly love others, including animals, and aren't afraid/embarrassed to show it. Thank you for so beautifully sharing your love for Jamie and Marigold with us. May God continue to richly bless you, Jamie and Marigold. ❤️
I'm lucky enough that I got to meet Jamie and Marigold. She's fiercely protective of this beautiful dog, and the love shines brightly from them both. Can't wait to see you, Sean, in Pensacola in February. I'm hoping to get to see Jamie and Marigold again, too!
I don't know if they've made it to Dallas yet. Check Sean's web page for upcoming events. Seandietrich.com, and then click on Events. I see he did a show in Lufkin, TX, in October 2024, and in Marshall just 2 days later, so he's definitely working his way west. 😊
Thank you for the beautiful pictures of Marigold. This story touched my heart. It brought tears to my eyes. I’m so happy that she is surrounded with so much love.
Marigold sees all she needs to with you and Jamie. Dogs see who you really are.
They look upon your heart. All of my dogs always loved people. On the rare occasion they did not like someone, I found they were right not to, and kept away from those individuals. I trusted my dogs opinions completely. The only times my dogs ever hurt me was when it was time for them to leave me.
Ain't this the truth! Our first sheltie was incredibly intuitive, and absolutely never wrong. She wouldn't see our family members for a while, as we lived out of state, but greeted them like long lost friends. Others who were questionable, she would chase to the tops of their cars (she really did), bark until she nearly put herself through a window, and growled menacingly at a group of boys coming towards me that obviously, did not sit well with her. I really do believe she'd take a bullet for us. The best one was when she stole a sandwich out of visitor's hands, who really was a complete idiot. She knew, and so did we. Such a girl.
Marigold has been transformed by loving people. She is a beautiful dog…..her glowing coat is healthy and shows attention. Her scar and blind condition, caused by a heinous act, forever remind us of cruelty. She is a miracle to have lived and endured pain and suffering! Her life has touched many…..May she continue, like her compassionate owners, to promote healing and goodwill.
I always say every dog is a therapy dog and Marigold is no exception. Dogs have the ability to bring out the best in us and they usually do. Kudos to you and Jamie for being such loving pet parents.
My daughter and I share our little Chihuahua and he too must have been mistreated before we got him. He’s scared of sticks of any kind……broomsticks, firewood, tree branches, etc. WE, too, give him lots of kisses/ hugs and are always telling him “I LOVE YOU.” He is a comfort and joy to me in my senior years. p.s. I NEVER WANTED A DOG. 😂😂

I truly believe every animal we ever loved will be barking, meowing, snorting at the gates to greet us
And tails wagging. I fully expect to be inundated as I was in rescue for years. Many sad losses add up to lots of friends on the other side!
I have no doubt at all our dogs will join us in heaven. What a reunion day!
Know that Winston is patiently waiting for you 🐾❤️🐾
Im not crying..just allergies.

Brewton ??
No. Bay Minette
LOVE should be added to the Periodic Table; it is an essential element.

Marigold
~VLP 2025
She didn’t like the shotgun sound
Or tracking animals across the ground
For that, dear Marigold, unfortunately found,
Despicable cruelty towards loving hounds.
There are those, but then others who care,
Who love loving creatures and with them bare
The wounding, outward and inward which of the heart tears,
Incredible givers with hearts made to share -
Like the Dietrich’s.
