You have a lot of stamina, Sean, to withstand the emotional turmoil that these little moments create. We are all thankful for you, and we thank you for sharing this. Most people talk about what's killing somebody, but their living is everything, and you get that. Small vignettes of a whole life, so ordinary, so unexceptional, so uneventful, and it's everything. The best kind of life.

To this young man, if you are reading this, please know how special and brave you are. Please know that there is baseball, Elvis and more love than you can possibly experience in heaven. And dogs, lots of dogs. There’s joy. There’s no pain. There’s so much joy, it’s like 365 days of Christmas. In other words, you are going to be more than okay. You are going to be in paradise. To Sean, I truly have no words for what you do other than just thank you and a big virtual neck hug. ❤️

Perfectly worded. Thank you! I’m sobbing too hard to string together a decent comment.

Exactly what I was thinking Lori. You said it perfectly. Knowing God really does take the sting out of death. We who wait and miss our loved ones are the worse off❤️❤️

What grace, and wisdom this young man shows us all. Bless his adoptive parents for giving him a better life. The love given and received between him and his parents is inspiring. God bless them all. You are right Sean, a lot of things look small by comparison.

This family will truly one day hear those words “welcome home my good a faithful servants, welcome home”.

Sean, you often mention you aren’t necessarily a “church” person but you are definitely one of God’s many angels unaware.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.’ Matt 25;40.

Thanks you Sean.

In the 13 years “Judy and Tom” have parented, loved and cared for this young man, they have obviously been beautiful witnesses for him to have such a forgiving heart. Lord, bless them and keep them.

God’s victory over death through Jesus Christ has robbed death of its sting. Prayers for the boy and his parents while they are temporarily separated. His acceptance and grace are humbling.

May this brave young man have a very peaceful, pain-free passage to the next leg of eternity.

May the Lord strengthen and hold up his parents who have already had to let go of a child.

May the birth parents find peace and stability in the Lord. I don’t believe it can be found anywhere else.

Wow, what a powerful experience. I appreciate the way you wrote about the child, the person instead of focusing on the disease or condition that is taking his life. I haven’t seen that a lot when people write or talk about death. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

Dang. What a story. This kid could be bitter but he’s more Christian in his forgiveness than most Christians. Sean you continue to open our eyes to the true meaning of life. It ain’t stuff. It’s our relationships with each other.

Steve hard to remember that sometimes, but you hit the nail on the head!

It’s too early to lift a glass, so I’m lifting a prayer of gratitude to Judy and Tom for their love, to you for sharing this story (and your gigantic, transparent heart), and to the young man for teaching us all so much. Blessings to all.

Aw, bless his heart. Selfless love for his birth parents even though they lived for themselves is Christ-like. Jesus loves us sinners so much he selflessly paid for our sins. Prayers for the boy and his adoptive parents. 🙏❤️✝️ Appreciate you visiting and sharing the heartfelt story, Sean.

How you manage such sad, yet beautiful experiences amazes me. May this precious young man continue to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Thank you, Sean.

Dear boy, I’m betting your birth parents love you too. They were addicted. Not in control of themselves. I’m sure they knew your best chance was with someone else. Sounds like they were right. Sounds like you were meant to help “Judy and Tom”. And they you. And good ole Sean of the South, who pretty much helps everyone.

I am sitting here pondering upon all this post suggests, reveals, and teaches ... it is almost a parable, except all of it is a reality. What great mysteries are hinted at in this encounter and it’s interactions the lessons these souls, each provide. What eternal truths are given witness. It leaves me pondering ...
