A truck stop. A little cafe, somewhere off the Great American highway. The waitress is bustling between tables. She’s an older woman. Maybe mid-seventies. Salt-and-pepper hair. More salt than pepper. She puts food on my table. Two eggs, sunny. Hashbrowns. Black coffee.
This sweet waitress is the opposite of acting as if she is “entitled”. She is a Fountain, not a drain, a Giver not a taker. May God bless her, the boy and her son. Thanks for sharing them with us Sean.
Sean, how do you find these heart-wrenching and heart-warming stories everywhere you go? I'm guessing God sends them to you, so you can tell us about all the good people that are in this world. And that waitress/mom/ is certainly one of them. Her welcome to heaven will be a celebration of all celebrations! But I pray she still has a long time on Earth taking care of that boy who needs her just as she needs him. She is obviously a person who gives and who cares. What a wonderful woman you met.
Dear Sean, just wanted to say you are NOT just an author, or a musician. You are an observer of people in life with an emphathising heart and exceptional comprehension level and we are grateful because those of us that are not, need those of your persuasion to keep us straight with understanding and questions we cannot ascertain...... And ...... I for one am grateful...... keep observing and clearing it up for those of us too spiritually blind to see & comprehend.
There are always angels around helping everyone. Guardian angels help certain people in times of hardship. I believe I was sent a dragon because, sometimes, I feel heat on my backside.
We should all be open to the very moments for which we were created. I love this idea and am going to be on the lookout. I officially become a "senior citizen" this year, and this is a wonderful reminder that I am not used up yet.
Thanks, Sean. Your stories like this make me glad I live in a world where there are kind, caring, and loving people like this angel in a waitress uniform. Yes, she has a long road ahead with that boy, but her path will give her more fulfillment and happiness than we can imagine. God bless her.
Sean, I love it when your stories end with a surprise. I did not expect the angelic waitress to be the cashier’s Mom! And what a Saint she already is, to be adopting this precious disabled boy, so late in her life.
I hope and pray that I am blessed to be in that mile-long autograph line at the entrance to Heaven. Who knows? Maybe our timing will put us there together….😇😇😇
Just when I feel like the world has gotten way too much, you bring another story of hope and goodness from Anywhere, USA. Real people with so much Light coming out of them that you gotta put on your sunglasses.
Those angelic figures show up in some of the most ordinary places. All it takes is giving more of yourself when you realize you were made for doing this kind of thing. Blessings to her and her soon to officially be expanding family. What a sweetheart.

I couldn’t have said it any better myself. Thanks C Brooks.

As you say. He proves to me with every column that the America I love is still here.
What an angel walking this earth. 💗
You took the words right out of my mouth ♥️

Now that’s funny Paul! I don’t believe you have ever done anything to warrant a dragon’s fire on your butt though. Good one my friend!
😉🍻
We’ve all felt that nasty heat sometime…ouch!
