Sean, that is a beautiful ode to Marigold. She's special, for sure, but you, too, are special for taking her in, taking care of her. She knows you love her, so that's why she can trust you. She's obviously a very smart dog, and she lives the best years of her life with you, even though she can't see. She knows that you will take care of her, teach her and treat her the way any dog should be treated. Humans can't live up to what dogs give to us. They trust us to feed them, bathe them, take them for walks, love them and meet all their needs. They become like our children and we their parents. The only bad thing about it is they don't outlive us, and we have the heartache when they go into the next realm. Please give Marigold a treat, a hug and tell her we all love her.

Beautiful, sweet Marigold. You have no idea how many people love you, and we’ve never met you.

Ah, Ah Beautiful Marigold. And I love him too. Beautiful story. Sean is so special and a wonderful Dog Dad. Yep, a Dog Dad. I am a Dog Mom and talk to my 2 girls and boy, just like Sean does. I tell them everything, and they listen. They hear me, when humans don’t.

Sean, just reading your letter to Marigold makes me also want to be a better person. But I won't tell you what it also makes me want to do that man who abused her so cruelly. 💙💙💙

I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows.

I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows.

I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come to show the way.

I believe, I believe.

Some would say that’s a Pollyanna attitude. The longer I live I see the truth of the lyrics.

The cruelty of this world is loud, arrogant and haughty. A select group of people do unspeakable things and sometimes even they can’t tell us why. Perhaps some tremendous hurt has happened and hurting others provides a temporary release. That’s where evil sets up camp and inflicting pain becomes a compulsion that’s never satisfied. Media fans the flames for ratings.

But kindness dwells quietly in the masses. It desires no attention but feverishly serves the lowly and forgotten, often the victims of the former group. Somehow mercy and compassion can reside in the hearts of those who’ve also been hurt along life’s way. The desires of the silent Helper, the Encourager, neither can they be quenched.

We cannot help the trials of this world, but we can choose our responses. Let us be the flower after the storm or the candle in the night.

Such a wonderful relationship between you and Marigold. There was a time when I couldn’t understand such a relationship between a human and an animal. Now I understand and appreciate the joy and love between a person and the dog or cat or any animal who is loved and reciprocates that love. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to communicate with one who has suffered so much pain and physical trauma. Marigold is loved by many!

Sean, you can be sure that dogs not only understand English, they understand how we are feeling and how we feel about them by listening to the sound of our voice and sensing our touch. So even though Marigold is missing one sense, she knows for certain that you love her. You are both incredibly lucky to have found each other!

Beautifully said. Investing in another, especially someone who struggles to be independent, is a precious gift with huge rewards for the giver as well.
