Sean, your article touched a chord in my heart. As a veterinarian for more than 55 years, I have been the one with the syringe many times. More times than I can count, I have been asked if I believe there will[ be animals in Heaven. I always answered yes! One great proof text is Rev. 19:11-15. I look forward to taking care of all those horses in eternity!
God Bless You, Dr. Hayes. You sincerely give the answer that your pet owners are seeking, How comforting of you. No wonder you’ve been a veterinarian for 55+ years…your families won’t let you retire💖
I bet it doesn't get any easier, David. I have watched two of my black labs get injected. The vet's assistant cried with me over the last one. I know you are all familiar with the Poem, "The Rainbow Bridge." I love your reference to Revelation. Never thought about that before. If horses, why not dogs, etc?
Me, too, Philip. Phoenix and Gracie, both black labs and both 14 x 7. Big sweethearts, both so friendly, they would lead a robber right to the silver.
💔💔 Reggie, the vet's assistant cried, too, as he carried her, wrapped in an old baby blue blanket, to the backseat floor of our truck so we could take her home for burial.
What a sweet dream! And don't we all hope that when we, with God's grace, end up there in Jesus's presence that it will be very similar to what you describe. I think i'll be looking for my dog, Skippy, who died when I was in high school, when he was hit by a car he chased that was driven by our teen aged neighbor, who stopped and was terribly remorseful, but it wasn't his fault. We could never break Skippy from chasing cars, and one finally got him. I've had lots of dogs since and some are quite memorable, but Skippy was special to me, just like your Ellie Mae was to you, Sean!
Sean, I can only imagine "what a day that will be" when you see your dad once more. You have lived a life missing him and loving him regardless of the many times you thought you didn't. That will be a joyous day and I hope I am there.
I can’t tell you how much this meant to me. Tomorrow I go in for a liver biopsy and I’m so afraid, Sean. This gave me hope that everything will be alright in the end. Thank you!
What beautiful hope of all we have to look forward to when we leave this place. Yes, what a day that will be!
Because He lives, we have faith in His promises. One day, it will be more than just dreams.

A couple more verses and birds are mentioned… but of course you did have “etc.”
Absolutely!
Absolutely!
"Dogs were present."
Mine just went the way of this dream yesterday.
This couldn't have come at a better time.
Thank you.
The sorrow of loss
is but a measure of a love
that is stronger than death.
So sorry for your loss. They steal our hearts. If there aren't any dogs in heaven, I don't want to go.
Such a hard day for any animal lover.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for the loss of your furry family member.
Wonderful story! “When we all, get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!….” I’m glad you woke up, so you could share this story!
I've always believed our dogs are waiting for us in heaven. Wouldn't be heaven without them.
I agree!
It’s a good dream, a promising dream. One day we may all be together with all the ones who have gone before us.
