You have too much facial hair to be Paul Harvey, but your story telling sure brings back memories of him. Good Day!

Sean, out of all the columns I have read and loved/laughed/teared up, this is one of my favorites.I am a Bham guy, played baseball until 19, my son played in HS and got to play center field in a game at Rickwood. He/I was so excited that he was catching balls where Willie freakin Mays actually played. Thank you..... By the way, I read your column first thing each morning at my coffee shop. I have forwarded special columns to many friends over the years. Almost all have subscribed. Alan

Thanks. My uncle played at Rickwood in his college days back in the late '30's. He was awed. It is still an awesome place.

You had me Goin dere Pone! I thought da coach was just tellin Willie to quit cryin like a baby and git out dere and play ball! But he literally meant for him to pull his pants up to narrow dere strike zone! Wonder why he hadn't pointed Dat out before?! Only problem I sees is dat it makes his britches like a cheap motel- "No B*ll room!" Hey whatever works! Pone, you been on a roll da last few days! Good Urn!

Great advice. Kinda like “pick yourself up by your own boot straps,” but the coach literally meant it. Narrow your strike zone. Pull up your pants. My granddaddy would have been hard to pitch to. He could pull his necktie out of his zipper, his pants were so high. 😉

And what a story is is! Willie Mays was an unbelievable baseball player. Thankfully, I got to see him play in Atlanta against the Braves. Not only his physical skills, but his demeanor and attitude toward the game were unmatched! It’s hard to imagine Aaron & Mays on the same field, but they were! That day will forever be in my memory!

And today I am definitely doubting my self-worth, as well as everything I do every day. What is the purpose? Why do I keep doing this? Why am I being harassed about things out of my control? Why, why, why? I guess I'll just have to pull my pants up, won't I? I'll have to remember this for future trying days! Thanks, Sean!

Great story & even better advice.

Assess the situation & just pull up your pants. ⚾️

True story, Sean? Willie Mays was really told by his manager to pull up his baggy saggy pants to narrow his strike zone? Well, I’ll be darned…
