Like everyone else in one fashion or another I have been troubled—all of the hatred and violence in the world, one environmental crisis after another, and the fear and grief of a lonely old woman. This morning I walked to the end of my street where the Bay meets the marshes. (Yes, I am fortunate indeed.) I sat on a rock where the waves were quietly lapping, and I prayed for God to fix it. Fix all of it. And I sat in the stillness, listening for His quiet voice. After some time, I heard Him loud and clear. Not His voice, but thoughts that were not mine filled my head. Here’s what He said. This is just a piece of it—some of the world was marsh grasses, blue sky, and sea birds. In other parts of the world there are weapons of war and wails of grief. There I sat, this beautiful spot surrounded by the beauty of nature while other pieces of the Earth where being devastated by storms or wildfires. Yes, I felt alone and afraid, but other times (pieces) of my life I felt safe and loved, surrounded by family and friends. Find peace in whatever « piece » of the big picture you find yourself.

Thanks for those profound thoughts and words Sean. I needed to hear them, as I am going through a rough patch right now (prostate cancer). But the Love of my Friend God will see me through to whatever end lies ahead for me. I am not afraid, I am grateful. Tom McC, McQueeney, Texas

Tom, I am glad to hear that you are not afraid. Someone once said, tis a poor thing to fear the inevitable. Who said that? Probably somebody who wasn't dying, is my guess. Lol. Well, Tom, I'm not a pray-er, but I'm sending one your way, REGARDLESS. 👍. HANG IN

Tom, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer almost 14 years ago, shortly after turning 60. He just had his annual physical and his Dr told him his bloodwork couldn’t be more perfect. He’s the picture of health and feels great. I hope this encourages you.

Good morning Sean and happy Friday to all yall. Last night we drove an hour and across three counties to see and hear Sean D. and his band. Even without malt beverages, it was a blast. We hadn't been in Alex City since the boys played high school football. After the show, I wanted to have a conversation with this dude that I've gotten to know over the last year. The book signing line was as long as a football field and my bride was gettin peckish. So I put on my Stetson and drove the truck to Chick Fillet and cruised on home. Take some advice folks if you get a chance to see Sean baby in concert, GO ! I wonder what musical instruments he doesn't play ? The coffee is done and I gotta run. Have a splendiferous day.

Peace

Through your gift of written words you have been someone’s “Angel” today by sharing hope.

1 God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change,

And though the mountains be shaken into the heart of the seas;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled,

Though the mountains tremble with the swelling thereof. Selah

4 There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God,

The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved:

God will help her, and that right early.

6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved:

He uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 Jehovah of hosts is with us;

The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

8 Come, behold the works of Jehovah,

What desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth;

He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder;

He burneth the chariots in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God:

I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 Jehovah of hosts is with us;

The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Psalm 46

The truth is that the trials and suffering we experience are very intentional and individual. They have been passed through the hands of God to be used in our lives. Why discredit the very things that God wants to use to change us?

What matters is making the right use of it, taking advantage of the sense of helplessness it brings to turn one’s thought to God. Trust is the lesson. Jesus loves me, this I know– not because He does just what I’d like, but because the Bible tells me so. Calvary proves it. He loved me and gave Himself for me.

Our culture makes it extremely easy to attain the easiest and most comfortable path. Just go on Amazon, and with Amazon Prime it’ll be in your hands in less than two days. How quickly we have gotten used to getting whatever we want when we want it.

Avoidance is ingrained in humans. Distractions abound. Those paths lead to nothingness or destruction.

The discipline and the gift of waiting have been lost. Trials are meant for grow our faith and deepen our relationship with Jesus. If we are not actively seeking the goodness of Jesus and meditating on things that help us see the sweetness of His friendship, how do we expect to ever grow in our love for Him?

Our highest form of worship is sharing our testimony, how the Divine brought us out of the pit of pain. And He’ll do the same for you.

Psych nurse here. I think I just read an encapsulation of God's perfection in these words you wrote. I'm totally adding embroidery, symphonies, and the love of the Great Artist into my tool box, my arsenal of weapons I can draw from to help my patients fight their demons. I just love you so much, Sean. By the way, seeing you perform after the opry made me cry in the best possible way. I considered myself your biggest fan but after that concert I realized I'm only your 2nd biggest fan because the lady I was standing in line next to said you performed her wedding service and that she was your biggest fan. Humbling to be displaced to 2nd biggest fan but fun nonetheless to be in line with 200+ number 1 fans.
