Great reply Sean. I love the Peytons of the world. May she rise above the torture she receives from cruel kids and know that it’s those cruel kids that have the real issues and not her.

Peyton, remember God called Moses to liberate His people & in Exodus 4:10 it says Moses had a speech impediment. Be hopeful, looking forward, past ridicule, because they prove they need Jesus,& should be pitied.🙏🏾

Dear Peyton, I wish that it were possible to help people understand that when people are cruel to others, it has nothing to do with the people they are tormenting and everything to do with the torturer. Somewhere along the way, at least one person who was responible for bringing up a next human being messed up, really bad.

Nobody taught me this, so I went along thinking that mean people were somehow right about me, how stupid and ugly I was. How I deserved to feel so badly about myself that I would believe such a stack of lies.

Grown ups knew and no one stepped up to say, "you're OK, I know it hurts but you'll get through it and what you will learn is to never be cruel to anyone, however loudly they are asking for it."

I have known some kids who were being bullied. The school, the parents, no one could seem to stop it. I know, it's incomprehensible.

One thing I did about it was get my Grandaddy involved. He was a scary guy, but he loved his grandkids. He drove all the way from Atlanta to the little town where we lived, and I saw his big black Cadillac pull up and park right in front of the doors. He got out of the car, gave me a big hug, and marched straight into the Principle's office, lit cigar and all. I got a lot of side-eye from the crowd of kids out front, and from some teachers, too.

Whatever he said in there, I never endured another beating at the hands of those girls.

I hope that one day, someone will stick up for you in a lasting way. Until that time, know that none of the cruelties you live with are because of anything that you are or did.

BEST Life, Love and Peace to you going forward.

Your Friend,

Cheryl

In my tiny 14-year old mind, it would be too dangerous to bring my mom or her parents into a bad situation; the bad actors convinced me that they would come and kill all of us while we were sleeping. I know, I know, how likely? What mattered then was that I believed it. So I called the scariest person that I knew, and he swooped in and made the pain stop.

Great message, Sean. I learned a lot about dolphins from it. I sure remember the TV show Flipper. That memory and your reply to Peyton made me think - Dolphins always have happy faces. They seem to always have a smile. Their faces are just built that way. It's all about family and friends and jumping for the sky and having fun (and outswimming the sharks). A lesson for us all.

I also heard that dolphins can kill a shark.

Yes, I believe by head-butting them repeatedly at top speed in the gill plates.

Dolphins have a natural ability to care for one another without being concerned about what another dolphin thinks of them. What I love about Peyton's thoughts is her genuine compassion for those who aren't kind to her--she doesn't have animosity toward them, just the desire to have all of us be more like dolphins. What's so hard about being kind? My dad used to say it didn't cost a plug nickel to be nice. It doesn't cost us anything at all to be nice.

Ok! But that’s why Jesus came, died on the cross, & rose again. We can be more kind, gentle, loving, hopeful & peace from within when we accept His free gift of salvation. Dolphins are fun , but still can be brutal to their prey. This is God’s design & we must learn to navigate as humans in this world. God is w us.🙏🏾🥰

I wonder. Will Peyton read the comments? Will Sean share the love with her from the comments?

Peyton, you are beautiful and talented. Right now, it’s scary because you see yourself as different, weird or stupid! You are perfect with potential for greatness!!!

There are ways to improve your speech … speech therapy and beyond. Seek out folks who struggled at your age and pick their brains to find out how they succeeded! Learn to love yourself. We all have a crooked tooth, lop-ears, pigeon toes, crossed eyes, missing fingers or legs or black and white hair and are just plain dumb!

There are ways to learn to laugh at yourself … believe it or not! Be the funniest version of yourself that you can be!

Find a mentor, like Sean, who cares just like the rest of us!

Peyton, you are tough and strong! Battles, severe as they are, prepare us to be better people! You’ve got this!! 💪

Peyton, now is the best time to ask your parents for some speech therapy so you can get over this hump!!

Being a dolphin might be alright. Swimming all day without worrying about sun burn or if has been enough time between meals to go back swimming. The only drawback would be not being able to lay on the beach. You could but it wouldn't be good for you. I guess there is good and bad in everything.
