You've listed all my favorites! I read something several years ago about Linus' recitation of the Christmas story that I'd never noticed before. "Fear not..." and he drops his security blanket which he always holds.
"I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people...." At your best Sean, you do a little of that for the rest of us...(that's not to say that you are an angel)
Yes, Sean, Linus was correct. He knew what the real meaning of Christmas was and still is. But how far this country and a lot of the world have fallen from those days, when an innocent kid, even though a cartoon, could tell the absolute truth. May we all remember the true meaning of Christmas. We a family we used to watch "White Christmas " when the girls were younger. We all liked that it ended happily!
Good old Charlie Brown showing us we need to be more simplistic about the true meaning. Thankfully, they've never cut out the true meaning of Christmas, which people pay more attention to than over the top, over produced movies. Simple is always better & more enjoyable. Thanks for the movies mentioned, because I intend to see as many as I can.
My fav too, Daniel. When I first started dating my wife back in high school, she said one night that she and her family were going to watch Miracle on 34th Street and would I like to see it, too. I told her I never heard of it. She looked at me like, "You're going to hell, boy!" Since then it is number 1.
I agree, Linus is very special, but after reading all the comments I'm not sure I could pick a favorite. Each is special in it's own way, and the line I'll always remember is from It's A Wonderful Life. Look Daddy, everytime a bell rings, an angel gets it's wings. That's right Zouzou. Thanks for being an angel to us, and keep writing more!
I was in elementary school when "A Charlie Brown Christmas" debuted. I had been raised Presbyterian to that point so I wasn't all that familiar with scripture (but I knew some important things about golf and Scotch). Still, when Linus delivered that line, I knew it was important. Many years later, I know exactly how important!
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is on Prime Video for rent of purchase. Looks good and includes the telling of Jesus’s birth. I’m waiting for the grandsons to arrive to watch it.
The Shepherd and The Messengers on The Chosen app are great.
When my kids were little there was a Jim Henson tv special called The Christmas Toy. I’m certain were Toy Story drew their premise of alive toys (only when no one is around).
Another movie about the writing of Silent Night called Silent Mouse. The composer gets stuck writing the song. The church mouse ‘doodles’ on the piece of music and finishes the composition. Lynn Redgrave is in it. I thought it very good.
I like Home Alone but I’m not very refined. You can probably tell since I find mouse doodoo entertaining. Every John Hughes movie is epic in my book.
Mousehunt is funny too but only two Christmas scenes so it really doesn’t qualify.
I guess I like the entertainment from when my kids were little. Christmas time loses some of its magic without kids. And now my grandkids are older. Besides I rarely have the tv on.
I’m so glad you mentioned the new movie “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” based on the novel by Barbara Robinson (circa 1972). That movie is second only to “A Charlie Brown Christmas” (circa Dec 9, 1965), which will always remain Number One with me and my family…all huge “Peanuts” fans.
I highly recommend BOTH for the best lessons in the True Meaning of Christmas through the eyes of children. ❤️✝️💚
And that, Charlie Brown is the meaning of Christmas.
And Linus drops his security blanket as he recites the Christmas story …… can’t remember if it is at the start, or when he says “fear not”. ….
It's the moment when he says "Fear not!""
Y’all are good!
I read it somewhere then watched it and got holy goosebumps when Linus dropped his blanket
Glad you called it to our attention! All the more meaningful…..love it! Thanks for sharing!

I never get tired of It's a Wonderful Life.
Me either!
Neither do I!
Still makes me cry. I love Jimmy Stewart and Capra made movies about human beings.

My favorite is Miracle on 34th Street. I like any movie that has Maureen O'Hara as the female lead and the dude who played Santa Claus is awesome.

I just watched the end of it. I love that movie and how the cynical became believers and embraced the real message of Christmas. Giving and Love
What a great summary of Christmas in films. Thank you for bringing a smiles and fond remembrances. Charlie Brown definitely takes the Christmas cake!
“Takes the Christmas Cake” 🤗

I cry. Every. Single. Time. Also love that album from Guaraldi. Sublime. Timeless. Thanks Sean
I love Charlie Brown
So do I and all my closest childhood friends!
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for the win.
Great joy to ALL people! What a wonderful blessing!!
